I am so sorry to hear this terrible news today. John was an absolute gentleman. Sincere condolences to all the family. I hold you all on the highest regard. Always friendly and never a bad word to say about anyone. I had two pints with John in the penny hill at Christmas and he lit up the bar with his laugh and humour. Will be sorely missed. Rip

A legend of a man with a great sense of fun and humour. Unbelievable craic on golf trips back in the day to Portugal and around Ireland. Our deepest sympathies to the Larrissy family on John's passing . Mr Larrissy was my neighbour in clondalkin when I was younger, he moved to Palmerstown with his family and many years later i moved to Palmerstown after i got married and i would meet him in the shops. He was still the kind gentleman that I grew up with in clondalkin. He would always stop to chat to you especially about football and always had a smile on his face. Michael Shannon and Daniel became very fond of Mr Larrissy as they enjoyed meeting him at all the Shamrock Rovers home and away matches. Mr Larrissy was a gentleman he never changed from that lovely kind hearted man that i knew when I grew up in clondalkin, his laugh would put a smile on your face he will be sorely missed by everyone who knew and loved him because he brought so much happiness too everyone that met him . The Rovers Matches won't be the same without him. Thinking of all the Larrissy family at this sad time. Rest in peace Mr Larrissy 😢

I was extremely saddened to hear of the passing of John. I had the pleasure of getting to know him over the last couple of years, meeting him at the school gate as he dropped off Luke in the mornings. I always looked forward to seeing him, and reflecting on each week’s League Of Ireland results. He had an admirable love for Shamrock Rovers, and always asked about my own team, Kerry FC. He was an absolute gentleman, a pleasure to spend time with, and a fantastic character to have around the school. Sending my sincere condolences to Luke and family at this difficult time. The gates of St. Lorcan’s won’t be the same.

I was fortunate to have worked and known John for many years, a true gentleman, may he rest in peace.

Heartfelt condolences to all of the Larrissy family on the Passing of John. I never knew him as John it was Mr. Lar. When I met first Paul, Rob, Pajo and Peter in the Canaries 27 years ago all they talked about was Mr. Lar and going to Rovers matches in cars with gangs of kids pilling into the car. This was not only a fantastic childhood memory of how simple life was but the building of a lifetime of friendships for all of them. It has now gone on to the next generation which is my four children both the two sons and two daughters are Shamrock Rovers Crazy. My eldest son Christopher was ball boy for 10 years and it became the joke among the lads that he was bigger than most of the players so sadly had to retire. Paul over the years has travelled so many places with Rovers and made so many friends. So THANK YOU Mr. Lar for giving this biggest gift to my family. We will never forget you and I'm sure the story of the kids bundling into cars will be told for many years to come. I don't do Shamrock Rovers matches myself, but as the man in the stadium carpark says I provide mum's Taxi, for the rest of them that do, Rest In Peace Mr. Lar and KOH X

Very sorry to hear the news of John's death. I had the pleasure of working with John in the old CBMW/BMS back in the early nineties in Lad Lane. The friendliest, kindest man you could meet, I had huge time for John and he was hugely respected by all who knew him.
