John Lynch

To the Lynch family, I am so sorry to hear about John. He was a true gentleman and made myself (and Fiona) feel a part of your family when we arrived on your doorstep for work experience in Dublin.

I will never forget how kind he was to us and only now looking back as an adult, realise how selfless and generous he was with his time, with two teenagers as green as we were under his watch for a full week! I hope he is happy and at peace.

Sincere condolences to Sheelagh, Claire, Terry and all the Lynch and extended family. I've known John since his stint in the early 70s in St.Flannans College, Ennis. Subsequently we met, in the early 80s, when he was in Revenue, then in the late 90s when we were both in D/Justice , Immigration Division and then in the early 2000s in CorpServ Division. After retiring we used to meet in December for lunch. We also used to go together to matches in Croke Park when Clare were playing - one of the highlights was the replayed All-Ireland in 2013 when , our team, Clare won. A staunch Clare and Manchester United sopporter, a music buff, John's family also fostered children - which shows the generosity of the man and his family. You will be sorely missed John by all your friends. Ni beidh a leithead ann aris.

John lifted the mood of every occasion with the right word or joke and his company was always sought out. St. Peter now has a new right half back to call upon. Rest in peace, John G.

I was very sorry to hear about the passing of John. My sympathy to the Lynch and extended families.

So sorry to hear the sad news of the passing of John. He was a gentleman and definitely one of the good ones. I worked with John in many areas in the Department of Justice. He loved having the fun over a few drinks and he was one great DJ who always did the music at the office parties. A number of years ago John made me a number of CDs containing my favourite songs that I had ticked off his list. You named them Sandra 1.2 and 3. To this day they are still played constantly.
