John Mackey

I am sending my heartfelt sympathy to all of John Mackey's family, loved ones and friends.
My parents came to London from Ireland in the 1950s
The Irish people worked hard and blended into the community. At times they did not receive a warm welcome and they definitely did not receive any of what is on offer now.
It is clear to see from the photograph, what a respectable and decent man Mr Mackey was. The comments reflect this too.
I was born in London. It no longer is the great place it once was. I am ashamed by the conduct of some of the residents now.
I am sickened by what happened to you Mr Mackey and I am so truly sorry.
You deserved so much better.
Thank you for being a shining light from the Emerald Isle and for all you did in this country.
I pray that you are at peace now.

I didn’t know John personally but I heard such wonderful things about him. London and Callan are very much at a loss and worse off with Johns passing. I have friends in London and they tell me that it’s not a safe or desirable city to visit anymore and with a great character like John passing, London just got more undesirable. RIP John Mackey.

Deepest sympathy to John's family on such a poignant ending to his life. I did not know him but the story resonates with me as l too live in England and am from Co Kilkenny.
Its obvious from the photos that John set the highest of standards - his dress sense alone spoke volumes. He has returned to the bosom of his family in Callan and is safely home. God grant him eternal rest.

Never knew him but came across the story of his passing in the papers and as a CBS student who visited Callan years ago and also an Arsenal fan I felt a little connection. He seemed like a wonderful man thoroughly enjoying his twilight years only to have them stolen from him. My condolences to his family and friends .

When he would come home on holidays to Mill Street he would always be a joy to meet. Always looked so well and loved chatting about Callan and Arsenal.
