Joan I don’t think we ever met but Jonny and I grew up together at Clermont Ave. we were always great friend but kind of lost touch when they moved to Sunday's well. I used to to down to Ballycotton where the family would go on holidays watch win all his swimming events. I moved overseas and when I would come back to cork I’d go down and see him at the warehouse. Last year I tried to find him I drove around the Kinsale road where you had a home but no luck in locating him. Have great memories of Jonny. Fabulous person never seen him mad at anyone always had the bright side out. Was taken far too soon. My condolences to you and your family also to Margie. Rip from the MURPHY’s Florida USA

We met by chance occasionally during the last 50 yrs and always stopped to chat about our lives, our childhood and eventually, our passion for swimming. In my memory, John personifies good humour, kindness, enthusiasm and fun. Rest in peace, John.

As we attended John's lovely funeral Mass today we know he would be so proud of the boys,their wives and grandaughters and how well they will look after Joan untill she improves.Its a lonely time for you all after all the fun you all had together at your homes in Ballinhassig and Uam Var.We will miss him also as a lovely neighbour and friend.Rest in peace John and think of those you had to leave and we will pray and think of you John
