We have so many happy memories of John. We shared such wonderful times with him in Ireland, Australia and California, and we remember his great work as a trade union leader in Aer Lingus. He has been such a friend and wise counsellor to our family over the years. John was a true Renaissance man, and had so many talents which he so generously shared with others. it was a privilege to have known him.

Sincere condolences to John's family. We appreciated how lucky we were to have him as our Chairperson in Dublin Airport Singers for many years. A great organiser and a rock of sense. He was such fun and great memories of his stories when we were away on trips not to mention his lovely bass voice. We will miss him terribly.

I was shocked and saddened to hear of John's untimely death. As a former member of the Age Alliance, I had the pleasure of watching a very skilled chairman, who had great empathy and understanding of the challenges and opportunities that people have as they age. He was a very patient and kind man who was trusted by all because of his inclusive style and an understanding of working in partnership. My sincere condolences to his family and may he rest in eternal peace.

John was a very lovely man, He came into our family, the Jennings, (he named us The Jeni) and became a hugh part our lives. He was very caring to our mother, Esther. who loved going shopping with him (I hated shopping). He deeply loved my sister Bernadette and she him. Ber and John's christmas eve parties in donnycarney were legendary, the highlight of the year. . My thoughts are with Bernadette, Ruth his daughter, and Ellen. It's been a privilege to know him.
