I went up monday the kindness shown by the mc cormack family was a joy i had the pleasure of working with this wonderful man he was a solid rock a little did i know he was gonn be famous gifted writer best driver chadwicks ever had some days i go out with the count one day middle of winter we had to go to this site way down the country the gate was very narrow ya wont get the truck thro john i laughed what do ya bet fifty pence i took it out he took his fifty hispence out left it on the dashboard and proceeded to drive in with six inches on each side and boy god did he do it gifted and loaded a ton of coal by hand he laughed your too young to carry coal a gem fierce nice friendly guy never get cross st peter will be honoured to have the count in heaven and no douthhis beautiful wife willbe waiting at the gates of heaven what kept ya she say john his beautiful wife reared one beautiful family so gifted so down to earth the count was a legend an icon bless you count and thank u for been like a dad to me i feel embarrassed when i go to funerals some people dont want you so do but the mccormack family should have an oscar for their kindness hed be so proud thank u count you were one super man

A true gentleman my condolences to all John's family my he RIP.

Reading over the other condolences shared here, it’s amazing to see how many times the word ‘gentleman’ is used to describe John. It’s exactly how I would describe him: a true gent, with a gentle soul. I remember listening to many of his stories when I was a young child visiting Auntie Bernie and Uncle John’s house. When I was leaving for college in Dublin, he gifted me a copy of one of his books, which I still reference now in my own work. His legacy lives on. I won’t be able to travel for the funeral but will join online and will be thinking of you all.
