I am deeply saddened to hear of John's passing and my sincere sympathy to his family.
As a past pupil & public representative for the area I saw first hand the passion & dedication John had for St David's school.
He was an excellent public servant who always wanted the best for his pupils.
John will be sadly missed.
May he rest in peace.

My deepest condolences to the McGarry family. I was very sad to hear of Mr. McGarry's passing. I was a pupil of St.Davids BNS from 1980 to 1985. Mr. McGarry took over from Mr. McGinley as the principal. I remember him with the late 70's hairstyle (all black ) and suits. I always thought he was a very fair and kind man and an excellent educator. I told him so when I returned to the school only on one occasion back in 2005. His face lit up when I said that to him. RIP Sir.
Niamh, Caoimhe, Cillian, Carol and Margaret, . I’m so sorry to hear of Johns passing. John is a 1st cousin , their mums being sisters , of my mum Juliana Fitzgerald. Thanks to his endless years of genealogy research we met up with many of the Foley and Horgan relations during a wonderful weekend in Kerry. I will always be eternally thankful for the family knowledge John passed on to me and my cousins in Limerick . John you will finally meet all the ancestors who owned the Reeks.
