To Colette and family my heartfelt condolences for the loss of your Dad RIP

Sympathies and thoughts with John’s family and friends.

His name is still revered at St Patrick’s Athletic given his contributions at the club from 1959 to 1961, in particular helping us to win the 59 FAI Cup Final with goals in the first game and replay. I had the privilege of sitting with Johnny at the club’s 80 year anniversary and enjoying his great company.

I know he was very proud of his achievements in football and kept a close eye on the fortunes of the Saints. I have written a piece in tribute to him on the club website at https://www.stpatsfc.com/news.php?id=9434 including some pics and links to videos involving him.

He was the idol of St. Pats FC - a old fashioned centre- forward- with a swashbuckling style. I remember him in his prime when St Pats beat Waterford in 1959 and Drums in 1961 FAI finals. Ar dheis De go raibh a anam.

Everyone loved Johnny in the office He would sing his heart out for all of us and what a great voice he had We loved him on the table tennis team and we won a lot of matches with the other financial institutions He was always in great form and cheered us up when needed as he listened to our love woes!! My sympathies to all who knew him and loved him. The angels will be happy to have them in their choir I will see you singing your heart out Fionnuala
