To Liam, Tommy and all connected to John I offer my sympathy on his sad passing. While I didn't know John as well as ye two, I would have encountered him regularly holding court on Saturdays in the Bookshop Cafe, Blessington over the past decade probably and no doubt the staff there looked forward to his genial presence and enjoyed buttering him up with his favorite menu item the way he liked it.

John was what I would call a true friend in every respect. I first met John when I moved to Golden Hill in 1979. We shared our love of the accordion and John would often come to my house up to recently and we would share our music. John would come to Carlow and we would go for lunch when we both retired. We worked together for many years and outside of work he would help me and I would help him. John was someone you could rely on, and he was very kind and thoughtful. Thanks for the last 41 years John, and I am going to miss you so much, you were my buddy. xx

We are so very sad to hear about John. He was one of a kind & we are going to miss him very much. So many childhood memories of visiting the farm in Ruislip or him coming to visit us in Meadow Lane. More recently we loved meeting up with him for a coffee & a good chat when we were over in Ireland, he was very knowledgeable about many things.
Rest in Peace, dear cousin John. We will never forget you.
Sorry we cannot come to say goodbye. We will be thinking of you all at 11am on Friday.

To Liam and all John's family, we are deeply upset by John's passing. He has been an amazing and caring partner to our mother Betty, and to all of her family here in England. Coming home for us will never be the same, as John was always there to welcome and enjoy good times with, he was always supportive in good times and bad. I knew John from the early days in Manor Kilbride and it was always fun going to see him in the plays. I would love to have been there on Friday to see him on his final journey.
