Sad news this. Mr McMyler was a giant of a man, whom I am grateful and privileged to have known since the 1970s. I was one of a group of Kevin’s pals who hung out together as schoolboys in the family home. Mr McMyler always made us feel welcome. He would talk to us. He would take time to listen to us. He made us feel respected, safe and comfortable. His was an example I brought to parenting my own children years later, never forgetting to the hugely positive impression he made on us in those younger years. That impression he made was so powerful that it lasted with me for 50 years. His pride and devotion to his family was equally admirable and inspiring. This man was an example to young men everywhere on how to conduct themselves properly, and how to manage family life and protect those around you that you love. It is heartbreaking to lose such a magnificent role model, but I hope there may be some comfort for his family and friends in knowing he is now at peace - freed from the restrictions of old age - and reunited with Lena & the others. I send my love & best wishes to Mrs McMyler, Kevin, Cathy and the extended McMyler and Hunt families at this difficult time. Let me know when might suit for a visit when these busy days pass & I’ll pop in for a chat. In the meantime, I would appeal to St Peter to open up those gates wide. One of the greats is coming through.
