I trained with John at Barr Pomeroy in Dublin and had the pleasure of working with him for five years. We attended evening classes and sat exams together, and during that time, he became a good friend. He was always very thoughtful—sending on any notes I might have missed or just being good company during those long Saturday classes. I am deeply saddened that he was taken so young and my heart goes out to his family. May he rest in peace.

I had the pleasure of working with John recently. Although we didn’t cross paths every day, whenever we did he would always go out of his way to say hello, and if he had the time, he would stop for a little chat. Those moments meant a lot to me.

It’s true what they say, the good ones are taken from us early. The news of John’s sudden and untimely passing is so sad. To his wife, children, parents, sisters and wider family, I am so incredibly sorry for your loss. Such a tragic loss of one of the kindest, warmest and gentlest humans I have ever been blessed to keep company with.

John and I started around the same time in the business and we instantly got thrown in the deep end having to grapple with really tough challenges together. We ended up working very closely together for 3 years and bonding over our closely shared experience of being single working fathers. I still vividly remember Oliver and Aishlinn climbing all over him on one Teams video call or another which I enjoyed so much witnessing. He was such a devoted father and I heard how immensely proud and joyous he was at the birth of baby Aoife.

He used to talk about his family back in Ireland with such pride and love, I always was struck about that. He loved his parents, sisters and Irish roots immensely and was a thorough Irishman!

As a person he had such a good and big heart and I feel blessed to have known him. This is such awful and tragic news and I just pray that to all of you his most closest loved ones that you gain solace and comfort over time. He touched so many people in such a deep way, Im hopeful that will help in some way.

I am truly shocked and deeply saddened to learn of John's passing. We became friends through the FAEs, and I'll always remember how we got through them together and kept in touch over the years after. You were a regular feature in our family house on Friday and Saturday nights over the years and everyone loved to see you coming through the door with your trademark smile and laughter.
