There is a light that never goes out, and that is John. Such a fun, generous and brotherly spirit. My heart goes out to Jules, James, Tony, Paddy, Maureen, Brenda and extended family and to everyone lucky enough to spend time in John's gorgeous and unique orbit.
Deepest sympathy to all the McPoland family.

(I stayed with John's parents Kathleen and Barney many moons ago while teaching in Clane....about 1986 and thereafter. They were wonderfully kind, generous and caring and I felt so lucky to have found great lodgings. Your family names certainly 'ring a bell' as I read the sad details. Time is indeed fleeting. Now widowed myself for 5 years!)

May your cherished memories help to console you during this difficult time.

Sincere condolences to family and friends. I enjoyed having John as a classmate during our five years at Dominican College Newbridge (and also as a teammate on our Doyle Cup winning team!). Lost track of him during our UCD days but thoroughly enjoyed his many postings on our NC Reunion WhatsApp over the last year - endearingly opinionated and witty on a whole host of issues! Many of his posts informed us about his travels and shenanigans during his exciting and fulfilling life. R.I.P.
Farewell for now John. Thank you for your friendship and for the times of our lives. May you now rest in peace. Take heart Brenda, Tony, Patrick and Maureen.
Our deepest sympathy to you Tony, your immediate and extended family on the loss of John. May he be reunited with those gone before him, and rest peacefully.
