Deeply saddened to hear yesterday of Johns death. I extend my sincere sympathy to Philomena and all his family.
He was our Geography teacher in Kilnacrott and achieved the impossible...he successfully taught us the complete Honours course in one year...his hard work and dedication was extraordinary.
Thank you John.
Later, as a teaching colleague in Kilnacrott, I learned so much from John and carried it forward with me for the remainder of my teaching career.
John, may you rest in peace.

Very saddened on hearing yesterday of John's death..I extend my deepest sympathy to Philomena and the family.
John came to Kilnacrott as a teacher at the start of my Leaving Cert year, and ,promised us that he would teach the entire Honours Geography course in that one year.
We wondered about this, but the hard work and dedication he put in each week was amazing.....and, in the end, we all succeeded. Thanks John.
Later...I joined the staff in Kilnacrott and was reunited with John on the other side of the fence.
I enjoyed his company very much and benefitted greatly in the future from his experience and guidance....he was always very encouraging .
