We extend our sincere sympathy to John's family on their sad loss. John was an exceptionally dedicated, committed and caring educator, who was very highly regarded within educational circles. On a personal level, he was a charming, thoughtful and witty companion whose company was always entertaining and enriching. He will be sadly missed and widely mourned. May he enjoy a rich Heavenly reward; and may his memory always be a blessing to those who have known and loved him. Go raibh leaba aige i measc na Naomh.
Sincere condolences to Elinor, Maria, Lucy, Tom and families, extended family and friends.
We are saddened at Johnny's death. As a young student of architecture Michael met him first first consulting a kind and informative Johnny in the VEC in Ballsbridge. He was delighted to meet him again when Johnny was appointed principal of Mount Temple not long after my own appointment as teacher of German and French. He was a wonderful educator in the broadest sense. He recognised the importance of languages and culture in the curriculum and encouraged participation in a multitude of projects proposed to him during his time as principal. He was a great listener and a welcome guest in my classroom where his interest, attention and genuine pleasure was much appreciated by all within.
Thinking of you at this sad time,
Margaret and Michael Mohan

We are all so sorry to hear of the sad passing of Johnny. He was such a talented man, his history on all the houses in the area including our own was a gift to us.
