John was a giant of a man ,kind and caring. He had a friendly disposition and a great conversationalist. He enjoyed travel but was always happy to return to the gentle heather and the soft dark soil around his native Place in Roscommon. First a Farmer he mixed freely in various enterprises and became somewhat of an expert in alternatives applying his intelligence and dedication to good effect. While farming John was also an electrician and a great man for extending the life of the washing machine something central to good rural living. A more important domestic item to some was the T.V and having a good reception. Here John was a master of his craft bringing first black and then color behind a pallor of cigar smoke. Like Clint Eastwood John was at home with a cigar. This is how I remember him and I salute this fine and noble gentleman for been what he was . May he rest in Peace.
