John was lovely man with a warm smile, a razor sharp mind and a great sense of humour. I have so many lovely memories of the Melody house throughout my childhood, from epic games of football on summer evenings in the back garden to board games and videos on rainy days. Suzanne and John's hospitality and welcomes throughout the years were endless. Thinking of you all at this sad time, may he rest in peace.

John, I am deeply saddened to learn of your passing, I remember the time when you prepped me for my driving test, and as you ran over the things I needed to remember, you dropped in that we covered amongst other things, the "handbrake turn". A little later on you remembered what you thought you said and said to me, "Did I say handbrake turn?" I said you did, and you said OMG I meant emergency stop. We laughed all the way home that evening, but I passed anyway.
