Condolences to Johns family for this sad loss. I had the pleasure to work with him for a few years back in the 90's on an European lobster project and have fond memories from this time. It was a long time with no contact until this winter. John will be missed.
John was an outstanding scientist and a wonderful man. He made his mark globally and will be sadly missed by fisheries scientist friends here in Australia.
I still remember field trip to UCG Shellfish Lab in Connemara with John Mercer and Zoology techs, a great lecturer. Condolences to his family. RIP

Condolences to John's family. He lectured me in third and fourth Science at UCG - an amazing empathy with the sea and the island communities in the west. No choppy waters ...
So sorry for the lost of your Dad Melaine. May his gentle soul rest in perfect peace.
