We gathered yesterday to mourn John/Dad’s departure from us. This was our collective farewell as his family, his friends, and his community. When John/Dad ended phone calls, he never said goodbye. It was often “Over and Out”. Whenever we departed for a trip, he never said goodbye. It was always “Mind Yourself Now”. But as per his faith, we have now entrusted him to God so his soul will continue to live on after death. We need to remind ourselves that we had the privilege to ALSO celebrate his final journey onwards to his creator. As he leaves this church toward his final resting place, I say to John/Dad on behalf of all of us “Mind Yourself Now”
