Belated Sympathy To the Mulholland Family on the passing of John only heard of it from Galway people I met by accident in Mullingar on Friday December 2 when I asked about him.
Fond memories of him arriving at the Joe Dolan Show with the late Paschal Conlon and friends.

I feel very privileged to have been his friend , he was a bright, intelligent, witty(loved a bit of devilment) humorous, unassuming, friendly, person, and my family and I are very sad at his passing.
As well as being a great entertainer, a pianist, a businessman, loved all sports, he was also a well-respected politician. He loved politics and during his twenty-four years as a City Councillor, he was twice Mayor of Galway a position he held with distinction he was a great ambassador both at home and abroad for the “ City of the Tribes”.
His pride and joy was his family and most of all the love of his life his lovely wife Margaret, he will be a great loss to all of you , also his wide circle of friends, his neighbours and all who knew him.
John, you will never be forgotten, my family and I have treasured memories of your warmth and friendship over the many years.
May your gentle soul now rest in peace.

What a beautiful service and later, a most marvellous tribute to John by all his seriously talented musical family including his grand children at the Salthill Hotel attended by about 200 people.

I would like to offer my sympathies to Margaret, Lisa, Eddie, Aoife, Alan and all the extended Mulholland family on the sad passing of John who was a great supporter of the Galway Arts Festival especially when he was elected Mayor of Galway in the mid 1980's. John was also very friendly with The Saw Doctors and he worked very hard to persuade Galway City Council to grant permission for the holding of a free open air concert in Eyre Square featuring the Tuam shams.
