I met John Noel when I was researching a book on The Fastnet Lighthouse many years ago. His wonderful stories as Principal Keeper on the Fastnet 1984 - 1989 were as interesting as they were entertaining. What struck me most about John Noel was that he was a gentle man. My sincere sympathy to his family at this very sad time.

It was a privilege to have known John and we treasure his visit to Carhan House, Cahersiveen (home of my grandfather John O'Connell) accompanied by Father Christopher and Oliver. My grandfather John was the godfather of your grandmother Amelia O'Connell. There was quite a big age gap between both of them. We will remember John Noel as one of life's true gentlemen, always so good-humored, and with a great sense of wit. He will never be forgotten by all that knew and loved him.
He spoke so proudly of you all.
May his gentle soul rest in peace and he is now reunited in his heavenly home with his loved ones.
