My deepest and heartfelt sympathies to Annie, Danny and all the Nolan family. I had the privilege of working for Mr Nolan in Lr Salthill back in the 90’s. He was the most gifted surgeon, yet humble to the core, a kind and gentle soul, brimming with compassion and empathy. John Nolan was the true definition of a gentleman, and genuinely one of the nicest people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. On chatting with him over the years, he always spoke so eloquently about his family, but mostly about his beloved Annie who he was devoted to. I have no doubt his reward will be great in Heaven. I remember him when I was a student nurse and working in St. Michaels Ward in GUH in the eighties. He was a very kind and caring doctor who treated everyone with respect and dignity. He went about his work always in good form and smiling. May his kind and gentle soul rest in peace.

My deepest condolences to all the family on the passing of Mr. Nolan. I'm so saddened to hear this news. May his kind and holy soul rest in peace. From the age of 10mths to 12yrs old, I was a patient of Mr. Nolan. I can still see his kind face and smiling eyes. I remember how professional and gently spoken he was. Just before entering secondary school (1993), Mr. Nolan performed surgery on my left eye. A life changing experience for me. Thank you Mr. Nolan. I am forever grateful. May you receive your eternal reward.

The “Regional” to have my squint corrected by the wonderful & lovely Dr Nolan. He gave me the greatest gift as a teenager and adult, one which I am always grateful for & to the late GP, Dr Máirtín Walshe, Moycullen for the referral, back then it was a big thing. We met a few times in my adult life & it was always a pleasure & I always asked amongst his peers, how he was, “he’s still cycling”, they would say. Such a gifted, talented & wonderful gentleman, a huge loss to his family, friends, neighbours & profession. Thank you Dr Nolan. Suaimhneas síorraí dhuit, fear uasail.

Faith, Hope and Love
The Faith he shared with us in the reading of God's word at daily Mass.
The Hope he gave so many of his patients and their families through his profession.
And the greatest of these Love!.
He quietly helped so many, visited the sick and cared for people.
Our coffee mornings are not the same without John.
His knowledge, interest and fun, never judgemental.

John is no stranger to the Lord as He welcomes him to his Heavenly home.
