I was so sorry to hear the sad news of John. I was lucky enough to have had quite a few flights with him, many years ago, when I had just got command and John was still a F/O…..it was always a great day out! Yesterday I attended John’s funeral in scenic east Cork. As is customary for a death in service John’s Aer Lingus friends and colleagues attended in full uniform. I was privileged to be part of his large honour guard.

A beautiful day in Ladysbridge was accompanied by a beautiful singing voice inside the church which was complemented by the beautiful sound of songbirds in the graveyard as you bade your farewells. On behalf of the Irish Air Line Pilots’ Association please accept my sincerest condolences.
