Comhbhrón ó chroí lé clann John. I am so sorry to hear this sad news. I got to know John sitting on the bench outside Lilliput Stores in the Batter, he'd be having his fag and coffee and the chats with everybody passing by. I was amazed that he seemed to know everybody by name. He was such a lovely, warm, generous person and I really enjoyed meeting him for coffee or a pint in Walshes. We became good friends over the years and I loved meeting him. He was always so interested in people and I missed him when I moved from the Batter. John called me in July from the hospice, now I know he was calling to say goodbye. Fear uasal, go raibh suaimhneas síoraí agat a John.
Lé grá agus mór mheas, Marie
— Marie Feirtéar
Anambhriste agus croíscriosta Clann Uí Dhonnchadha na laethanta seo. Léiríonn na línte measa agus molta thuas , uathu siúd a raibh aithne acu ar bhur deartháir John gur fathach fir ab ea an caractar seo. Méadaíonn a fheabhas mar dhuine , méala mór a bháis dár ndóigh ach maireann na cuimhní cinn go deo mar thaca.
Mo chomhbhrón ó chroí do
Dhairíne Ghleoite , Áine na hÁille, do Mhairéad , Maria , Chlíodhna agus Donncha.

I had the privilege of sharing my first acting class and first time stepping onto the stage at the Focus Theatre Saturday studio with John. We shared special times and had the pleasure of working together both on stage and in film. John was magnetic, charismatic, generous, deep, a thoughtful human being with a wicked sense of humour, who loved people, the simple things in life and who always kept it real. I treasure the life experiences I got to share with him. John was proof that life is no dress rehearsal.

My heart is broken, especially for Áine and the entire family. To everyone who loved and adored Johno I extend my deepest sympathies to all.

Go raibh maith agat J. Rest in Peace. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.
