I like many others had the pleasure of working with John in Newstalk. He, Declan and I worked on Late Night Live when the station first went national. As a researcher he gave me so much confidence, freedom and encouragement. Family were always part of the show with JJ's tips and Darragh's 'On this day' recordings! Off air we had great craic and many a good night was had after the show.
John introduced me to some great people and he even when i left and went travelling he'd ring for a catch up.
He mentored so many people in radio with his endeering nature, encouraging words and gave so many people their first hands on experience.
His devotion to Darragh, JJ and Margaret was evident as he talked about them every day.
He left us way too soon but his legacy will live on in all the people that he went out of his way to support.
