My sincerest condolences to all John’s family and friends on his untimely passing. Both my late father Des, a trade union official in the hotel days and myself (HSE Sligo) had many dealings with John over the years. He was a tough but fair negotiator, a man of his word and an absolute gentleman to deal with. I’m so sorry that he didn’t get the time in retirement that he so richly deserved. May he Rest in Peace.

It was my privilege and pleasure to know and work with John when worked in Great Southern and DAA group.

He was a gentleman to his core who worked so hard and maintained a sense of humour throughout.

One of life’s gems who was always a pleasure to engage with.

I was so shocked and saddened to hear of the Passing of John. Though it is many years since I met John, I remember him as a very gentle, soft spoken man , who had a very warm smile, and was always a pleasure to meet. He was unassuming in nature, a true gentleman. To Maura, Kate, Rosalyn,Greg,Ivan and Grace, together with the extended O Mahoney family, please accept my most sincere sympathy at this heartbreaking time for you All. Treasure wonderful memories of a lovely life lived by John with you All.
