I am sorry to hear this. John often sung songs composed by my father Paddy Faley (whose anniversary occurs on Oct 17) for the Newly Composed Ballad competition. I hope they meet in Heaven and can have more fun composing and singing. My sympathy to the O'Riordan family.

Johnny was a man of remarkable talents who kept the traditions and culture of the Rambling Houses alive in County Limerick. He was a fine musician and singer who was very easy to listen to. Heavily involved with the athletics scene he sat on many county boards and promoted the sport wherever he went. I took part with him many times in the Dublin marathons during the 80s and 90s and the after drinks at Wynns hotel were legend. Johnny was also a talented journalist and reporter with the Leader and local papers and he would be sure to give a good write up to anyone who was, even in a small way, contributing to the community. Best of all Johnny was a raconteur and seanchai who could draw in those around him. I can say that I never saw him in a bad mood and it was difficult to leave his company.

I believe from speaking with people who knew John in his younger years that John was a great runner.My own experience of John was as a great singer ,a fantastic musician and who had a great love of the Irish language.May John now rest in eternal peace.🙏🙏
