I heard the sad news of John’s passing while out of the country and, unable to be there to pay my respects, wish to send my condolences to his family.

As others have noted, he was a gentle person; but in dealing with his cruel illness he proved himself to also be an incredibly strong-minded man.

For myself, I will always have fond memories of the Monday Club and the many problems of the world that we solved!
