May he rest in peace.
John, our dear and charasmatic friend of 50 years standing has sadly left us. While much has been said of his endearing human qualities - gentleness, good humour and empathy to mention a few - one should not forget his remarkable range of talents. From his professional platform as a skilled photographer his creative prowess truly blossomed into the realms of nature itself. His annual publication of stunning pictorial calendars depicting Asian themes was an unmissable event .He embraced ceramic / stone pottery design with enthusiasm and good effect .His garden in Wicklow with its distinct Italianesque contours , was a thing of rare beauty and finally, his small art collection clearly underscored his fascination with light and colour. Truly, a gifted if understated human being..
May his gentle soul rest in peace..

John and I shared so many times in Typeset during the busy times many years ago. Always witty, always sharp and never boring. John arrived at my door with a bunch of flowers at the birth of our son. He loved the smell of food. I could write a book. John was a gentle gentleman. He stood out when everybody else seemed self obsessed with making money. I wish I could have renewed our friendship and and very saddened to hear of John's passing. I prefer to remember all the good laughs we shared together. RIP John.

To Cormac and family. Very sorry to hear of John's passing. I have nice memories of your Dad driving us from Bridgefield to our gaa matches, all of 35 yrs ago. His large green volvo saloon seemed like a 747! He was such good company and we were lucky to have him driving us. MANY years later when our paths crossed his greeting was always warm and friendly. Rest in peace John and my sympathies to all the family.

To John's wife and family.
My sincere condolences for your huge loss. From my time at Irish Life, I remember John so, so fondly. I would meet him on 'the ramp to the carpark' around 2pm on a particular day - John visiting Irish Life for his brokerage visits, me - heading back to 'the desk!' after lunch. I never forgot him, he was such a wonderful, kind gentleman. Rare then, and even rarer nowadays. Never forgot him - years later. Such a beautiful soul. R.I.P. John. I know his memory will live on in everyone's minds, who were fortunate enough to encounter him along their life's path. My condolences, Grace McLoughlin
