John, you were a man of many parts. An incredible father who dedicated his life to raising three children, always looking out for them. A warm caring friend who could mix in any circle whether it be literary, around a dinner table, or group of cronies in a pub. Erudite, with a depth and breadth of knowledge on current affairs, American politics, English football ( Millwall) , Irish emigrant dancehall scene in London in the 50’s/60’s, etc.An individual prepared to take a position, voice it and argue it against one and all. Aoife, your dad was fortunate to have you there, close to hand looking after him unstintingly and unselfishly throughout recent challenging years. He will be sorely missed. David
