Condolences to the Gilligan family on John's death. May John rest in peace. Always enjoyed life and made everyone laugh. Met him with Tommy in Port Washington. Always had good stories from Ireland.

Sending our most sincere condolences to the Gilligan family at this time. Mr. Gilligan was a true Irish gentleman and family man. His warmth and care for others is evident in his children and grandchildren, and in that way, he has left a wonderful legacy.

You will be greatly missed Mr. Gilligan. We remember the many times we shared together at Sarah’s house in Glenwood Landing, NY. You were always the life of the party, adored by your family and friends who looked upon you with love and admiration. It was truly a pleasure to know you. May you rest in peace, and God bless.

Grandad, it was a blessing to be both known & loved by you. I'll miss the times we spent chatting in the house over tea & going to the races and betting on which horse will cross the finish line first, you always said bet on number 4. I am a close friend of Tommy Gilligan, and I feel truly fortunate to have had the opportunity to meet John in his hometown of Sligo. John Patrick Gilligan was a remarkable person who cherished his loving family. I had the privilege of staying at the Shamrock, which made my visit even more special. Sligo is a place filled with extraordinary beauty, and it will always hold a special place in my heart and fond memories of John.

I met John at Sligo Races with Tommy, a few years back. He was such a character, great craic and so pleasant. The epitome of an Irish man, a family man. It was a privilege to have met him and enjoy his company, though brief he left a lasting impression. Tommy and John had a very special bond, was endearing to see.
Only after seeing John's Death Notice, sincere apologies for not sympathizing before now.

I was fortunate enough to meet and talk with him on numerous occasions when he was visiting New York. I remember running into him and Tommy in our favorite Long Island diners and in our neighborhood in New York.

My deepest condolences to the Gilligan Family. Mr. Gilligan was a good man, who lived a good life. His son Tommy reminded me of the time when I was mayor in the 1990s and I arranged to have Mr. Gilligan's street light fixed on Pearl Street. He was so grateful that I have had his vote ever since. If only life could still be that straightforward for us all. RIP. 🙏🏼
