Very sad news. Condolences to All the Pearson family and friends. I often still think of John even though I only knew him for a short time around 00/01 as one of his students. He was a true gent. He made a big impact on me. It was easy to look up to him. When he talked we all listened. He was so all charming and charismatic. He helped me get a great start in the bar trade and I never forgot that. RIP Mr. Pearson.

My sincere condolences to the Pearson family, I would like you to know of the impact that John has had on my career and life. I feel very fortunate that of all the tutors I have had throughout the years it’s John who I remember the most. I was a student of John’s at CIT in Cork where I learned about Bar Management but more importantly about people, and how to treat them. I learned a lot about hospitality and the true art of taking care of people, which I have been able to take with me on my own journey. John to me was the essence of a true Gentleman, he had a classic Cork wit that always brought a smile and that I will not forget. I credit John with providing the spark that kickstarted my interest that led me down the path to a very successful career in the wine and spirits business. My only regret is not following up with him all these years later to thank him for his mentorship. But I have good memories of our interactions and I try to live by his saying that ‘It is nice to be important, but more important to be nice’.
May you rest in peace John.

to Agnes and all John's family....so sorry for your troubles..I am truly sad to hear John passed away. I met John in 1959 when I got a job in the Metropole in the lounge bar...straight after my Leaving Cert !

The training in the bar and in customer service stood to me all my life..thanks to John and Joe. I met many 'captains of industry' in my summer job...which I enjoyed immensely. I wasn't kept on after the season...but went on to plough other fields. Music, languages etc. After 23 years in Europe with Aer Lingus..I took over the Cork Sales Office...and met John on a few occasions in connection with CIT.

I treasure our memories and will keep him in my prayers. Sincere condolences...Benny Neff
