John’s impact across Ireland is immeasurable. He gave his time so generously, always ready to support and encourage businesses to grow and succeed. His wisdom, warmth and steady presence made a real difference to so many.

He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

I was shocked and saddened to hear of John's untimely passing, he was a gentleman and very approachable as a boss.

Sincerest condolences to Audrey , Cian and Conor . Throughout our lives we meet a handful of people who we connect with on a deeper level and John was one of those people . When John asked you a question he always had a huge interest in the answer . I’m honoured to have shared kebabs at 2am in Paris and brainstormed business ideas together always having time for a laugh . John was taken from this world way too early but I have no doubt he had a VIP ticket to heaven . Rest easy my friend .

It is true that leaders are often unaware of how they impact people. Ergo was my first job over 25 years ago. Through the years, I have never forgotten John, the role model he was and the environment he created. We went the extra mile because we wanted to. I have since learnt that leaders whose impact lingers as it has done is the exception. It is clear John made a real difference.

So sorry to hear of his sudden death. I can still hear him talking about Audrey and the boys; you were always top of mind. With my sincere sympathy to Audrey, Conor and Kian at this time of such great loss. John was a formidable force who has left a lasting legacy. His funeral yesterday was a wonderful and fitting tribute to him. May he rest in peace.

Sincerest condolences to all the Purdy family. I met John a very very long time ago while he was working out of Cross Guns Bridge and then on to Richmond Road. I worked with the Irish Times and John supplied us with some cutting edge equipment for those times. Many a sleepless night with John and Les and Pat to make it all work. It did. Great memories of the 5 a side football matches which all your family were invited to and something to eat afterwards. He was a bundle of energy, full of ideas, always a big wide smile on his face and a warm welcome. Just a lovely human being.

To Audrey, Kian and Conor. I was absolutely shocked to hear of the untimely passing of John. I will always remember him as a powerhouse of energy and positivity, a true gentleman with a great smile and mischievous sense of humour. The tributes paid to him at the mass yesterday (which I saw online) were truly from the heart. He was one of a kind, taken way too soon. My thoughts are with you all.

Very saddened to hear of John's passing. I had the pleasure of meeting John for lunch a few years back and his warmth and excitement for startup success was very evident. He was a very kind and generous mentor and will be missed by the Irish business community. Rest in Peace John.

Sincearest Condolences to all the Purdy family. I had the pleasure of meeting John in Ergo over the last 5 years, and I'm amazed by how much time he managed to make for everyone. Since he changed role to Chairman our conversations were often more casual, and often about how stylish he was and the gorgeous shoes. Know he achieved so much more than that professionally but his love of style was always there. I will miss him popping into Ergo and I'm very sorry for his passing too soon. Take care of yourselves. I have such fond memories of John in school in Colaiste Eoin. Setting up the Phoenix Youth Club with John and trips to Coolure House especially.
We went together on a vocations workshop as we both were discerning our paths in life.
John was then a great inspiration and leader, rooted in integrity, compassion and determination. Always a man of faith and he continued to lead and inspire all his life.
John, may the Lord give you the reward for a life well lived and may you rest in peace.

John was a true gentleman — a business leader in the fullest sense, and above all a devoted family man. He was kind, welcoming, direct, sharp, deeply seasoned in business, and most importantly, he genuinely cared about people.

I was fortunate to work with John over the past three years as my adviser and mentor. Over many years in this industry, I learned so much from him. His guidance shaped my thinking, my leadership, and my values, and I will carry those lessons with me always.

On a personal level, I am deeply grateful for the privilege of having crossed paths with him and for the many moments I benefited from his generous heart and wisdom.

John would be soo proud of you all. Great memories as kids visiting Uncle Jack and Auntie Millie in Finglas and John told me at Uncle Austin’s funeral last year that he would always end up coming back to our house and end up babysitting me! Much to his disappoinment :)
