Dear Auntie Fionnuala, Bronwyn, Iain, Ciara, Sorcha and Niamh,

I thought it only pertinent I write a message of condolence, as any correspondence especially published in The Irish Times, Uncle Johnny maintained a genuine interest in them. He had a great thirst for knowledge, fantastic anecdotes and provided us all with fond memories. I cannot express enough sympathy to convey my condolences to you all. May he rest in peace.

We were so saddened to hear of Johns death, we were all so very fond of him, he was really one of life's gentleman. A lovely kind nature and a genuine interest in the people around him. Fionnuala and his family and grandchildren was so very important to him. Also a man of great faith, we became good friends through the Augustinian church, many years ago. Also John was always extreamely well dressed. He got all the love and care from his family until the very end. Our thoughts and prayers are with you Fionnuala and family at this very sad time. As a kid visiting my friend Iain, I was always struck by how 'Mr King' used to constantly sing around the house which always made me smile as well as it impressed me that an adult could be, it seemed to me then, so open and in a way brave.
