Fondest memories of John and Maureen, who brightened up our childhood home with their visits when in Cobh.
Thank you for many years of kindness, and for keeping in touch. Safe home.
RIP.
So sorry to hear of the death of John. May his gentle soul rest in peace. Have many happy memories of our trips to Cobh to visit Michael, Linda, John and Maureen many years ago and their return visits to us in Ring, Co. Waterford.
Dearest John.
I am thinking of you reunited at last with Maureen. It was a beautiful funeral in Cobh yesterday - cold and windy with blue skies and sunshine.
John and Maureen visited Cobh regularly in summer and at Christmas. On these visits they gathered friends and family. They always included my mother (Micky) who was widowed very young. She dearly loved them and the fun they had swimming and walking.
I visited Bedale over the years. More recently John used to recall Clashmore and Inchegelagh. Also his family in Australia, especially his youngest sister and her daughter. He told me about a nephue (?) who walked the Coast to Coast. And fondly about his god-daughter in London.
John had wonderful friends in Bedale who were like family - including John in their own family events. The Church community there was very inclusive and supportive which greatly enhanced Johns life.
John was a true and gentle man who lived a good life. I fondly remember our lovely trips into the Dales, Moors and Whitby - happy days.

I remember John and Maureen coming on holidays to Cloyne Tce many years ago . He was a lovely Gentleman. Rest in Peace John.🕊reunited with your beloved Maureen.

A gentleman indeed. Lovingly remembered by your many nieces and nephews and all our families in Australia. God bless, John.
God speed Uncle John. Anne and I have fond and lasting memories of visiting you and Maureen in Bedale, albeit a long time ago. In my younger days you were our sea faring uncle. Unfortunately you were the only one of Dad’s family whom we didn’t see as often as we would have liked, due to us living in Australia. In more recent years I have enjoyed our annual phone catch up for your birthday. You always had us all in your thoughts and prayers. Love Stephen & Anne Ring
Uncle John - Rest In Peace and catch up at last with the four brothers and sisters and your mum and dad you’d not seen for such a long time because Australia is so far away. We remember our visit to you and Maureen in Bedale very fondly. Love, Felicity and Martin O’Malley and family. (Niece)
Dear John,
On your last journey I send you all my love.
I was first introduced to John and Maureen many years ago while working as a District nurse.
After nursing Maureen on her last day, I kept in touch with John at Christmas and Easter.
Visit increased once I retired from Nursing.
We would frequently enjoy meals out at the Fox and Hounds in Carthorpe but best of all was the wonderful summers day out at Thorpe Perrow. The arboretum near Bedale.
Latterly John would manage only the Fish and chips we bought him from Halls of Bedale Fish and Chip shop on a Friday lunchtime.
John was a wonderful friend and a true gentleman.
I will miss you John,
Rest in Peace with Maureen,
Amanda and Bob Goff
