I had the pleasure of his company when I presented you with your Hall of Fame Award. He was a true gentleman, a wonderful conversationalist and storyteller, with an incredible range of knowledge and so very hospitable and engaging in every way.
He was so attentive to you and I am certain he will be looking after you from his heavenly home. God bless and comfort you and your family

Hi Jane & family, I was so sorry to hear of your dad's passing. Bernadine, Sheelah and I would like to express our sadness. But all 3 of us have wonderful memories of your dad, and your family when you visited Clonea. You brought a special energy when you arrived. We used to laugh so much at your dad's jokes and stories, his drawings. It was such fun sitting in the holiday house he built, drinking orange squash. I remember the foot pump he had installed to have running water in the sink, it was so clever. Thinking of you all. Kathleen, Sheelah and Bernadine xx

My heartfelt condolences to all the Rossiter family on the sad passing of John snr. I remember with fondness his kindness to me as a young teen & his humour and his unique laugh in particular. A solid but quiet assuring presence in the household, he always demonstrated exemplary fatherhood & solid parenting skills. I'm sure Peg will dearly miss her constant companion. Unfortunately I was abroad & only just learned of his untimely passing. Both Paula and I and my children wish you all our best and a safe onward journey for John RIP.

It was such a delight to meet you both a few year back and to listen to John reminisce about his school days and young life shared with his friend and my Dad, Larry. Their times together in An Óige and their youthful exploits around Clonmel were a rare glimpse of a formative time in my parents lives. A lovely gentle and charming man. Delighted to have met him.

Just seen this very sad news. We've only known Peg & John for the last ten years or so but were always welcomed to #16 on visits to Clonmel, where John diligently served the coffee while Peg reminisced firstly about schooltimes with Mike's mother and aired her strident views on life today. We shall miss his contributions to those "chats". Rest in Peace.

My Deepest sympathy and condolences to Peg, Elizabeth, John and Jane, his grandchildren and great grandchild on his passing. He lived a long and fruitful life, I vividly remember John walking out Powerstown Road heading for the hills quite literally in walking boots with staff in hand. In thinking of him I believe a very apt biblical verse would be Matthew 5:14 “You are a light of the world, a city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden”. In secular terms the words of Margaret Mead, an American Cultural Anthropologist come to mind. “To the living, I am gone. To the sorrowful, I will never return. To the angry, I was cheated, but to the happy, I am at peace and to the faithful, I have never left. I cannot be seen, but I can be heard. So as you stand upon a shore, gazing at a beautiful sea – remember me. As you look in awe at a mighty forest and its grand majesty – remember me”.
