Our deepest sympathy to Kath, Margaret, Chris, Jack, Sean & families. Russell will be very sadly missed by all of us as he was a much treasured friend and great company to be with. You could be sure of a good laugh in the many days we shared out in the Allotments. When it came to growing plants Russell was a world of knowledge and it always ended hilariously with a joke. We will always remember Russell kindly with his whit, honesty, sincerity, kindness and roguishness. Rest in peace Russell 🙏

So sorry to hear of Russell's passing, our deepest condolences to all his family and friends. Russ was real character and has left me with a lot of personal memories, always up for anything that was going he was a real livewire. Joiner, gravedigger, window fitter, lumberjack, scaffolder and even a ' Special Police Constable," once upon a time, he had stories from all these occasions. Fond memories of a colourful character.
Sending all our love, many happy memories of our days at hospital cottages, you left behind a wonderful legacy in your two sons and grand children x
My thoughts and prayers go out to all of Russell's family. I've known Russell since 1979 from our time together at Cockerham Sands along with his brother Shaun, his father Jack and mother Margaret. Along with Dave and Ian Mitton, Mick Kerry, Michael Smith aka "Boiled Egg" and Stuart Evans, we were usually to be found playing darts and most Sunday lunchtimes were spent at The Stork pub at Conder Green. Once you met Russell you would never forget him, he was larger than life and always great fun to be around with a big heart and generous with his time and friendship. One of my abiding memories will be the day Russell and I went from Cockerham to Carlisle, shortly before Christmas 1984 to watch his beloved Blackburn Rovers, now that was an interesting afternoon!!

You were definitely one of a kind Russell, good night God bless mate xx
Rest in peace Russ. Deepest sympathy to all your family. Dave

Our hearts go out to you mum (Kath) as you come to terns with losing your beloved Russ. Sorry we couldn’t be there to send him off but we were so touched to be able to watch and share in the memories spoken of so well by Jack and Chris. You did your dad proud lads. A touching and fitting tribute to him.
Russ was such a funny and larger than life character he will be sorely missed by you all and all his pals in County Kerry i’m sure. When I phoned up Russ always had a funny and cheeky joke to tell that had us all in stitches. He seemed to be able to turn his hand to and know about anything practical and seemed to know everybody when he was out and about! Which I’m sure he did as he was so sociable and charismatic!

I’m so sorry for your loss of Russ, Mum, Margaret , Jack , Chris and the rest of the family. Raising a glass to him tonight with you all and wishing you peace and warm memories as you mourn xx

First met Russ at cockerham sands where my parents Anne and Jock Kerr had a caravan and Russ's mum and dad jack and Margaret also had a caravan on the same site.
Have some fantastic memories of those days.
This is where Russ met and married my sister Lorraine.
