I was so sad to hear of John's passing. I always enjoyed his company as a colleague in 'region 3' of the AMCSS. He was so highly respected among his fellow principals and his inputs at our meetings always showed his deep integrity, knowledge and passion for education and for CBS Enniscorthy. His friendly manner and optimistic outlook will be especially missed. I offer my condolences and those of Loreto Kilkenny to John's family and to all in the CBS. May he rest in peace.

The last time we met John was when he attended Maynooth University many years ago.

He did so much priceless work on the Ryan family tree and sent me full details.

My dad was DJ Ryan of Newberry Mallow and my mum was Angela Ryan ( nee Coakley of Doneraile).
Dad was born in Sunville Glantane

It's so so sad to hear about John's passing.My deepest sympathies to Eilish, Aisling and Sean and all of John's family and many friends. Eilish, I met John a few times with you and I was struck by how gentle and kind he was in how he spoke. Clearly, he has touched the lives of so many. I know your hearts are broken but I hope ye get some comfort from the memories you shared with John. May he rest in peace.

I remember dropping into Mr. Ryan's office after school to discuss a problem. I'll never forget his help nearly 20 years ago.

To John's wife Eilish, his children, his family in Wexford, and to his Mother Nora, his brothers and his sisters Ann & Tess, Cormac and I extend our sincere sympathies to you all at this terribly sad time. We have known John, Ann & Tess since our secondary education schooldays in Coachford and hold them all with affection and esteem. We are truly shocked and saddened to learn of John's passing. Such a profound and sad loss for you all. Though we may lose contact with school pals, they remain ever present in our thoughts. We have only the most positive memories of John and the Ryan family as a whole. We always remember John as very intelligent, bright, good humoured, caring, kind, very unassuming and great company. He was a real gentleman and a gentle man. He was a person of many endearing and sterling qualities. It is no surprise that his passing will be felt so acutely by so many.
