John (Sean) COOPER

I was very saddened to only learn today of Sean’s passing. I lived in Rathmines until last year and Sean was such a lovely man to meet on the street and I also would meet him every Friday Mornining in his favourite cafe, The Art of Coffee , Rathmines. The staff were so good to him there. Was shocked when I visited Rathmines today and the great staff in Art of Coffee told me of his untimely passing . My sincere sympathies to his niece and extended family .

For the past couple of years we brought Jimmy (John) to Tallaght for the Rover's matches. A lovely guy, called Phelim, talked him through each game, in minute detail. The mad, funny thing was, that Jimmy often had a better grasp of the games ' events than we had! Our journeying to and fro to Tallaght were a pleasure in Jimmy's company. No matter who was in the car, he chatted and laughed all the way. He got Gerry to look up the results of all kinds of sporting fixtures that he'd had a little wager on. He loved the old cricket! We will miss him. Rest in peace Jimmy, hope you catch up with all your family

I am really sad to learn of John’s passing. John (we knew him as Jimmy as that’s what he told us to call him!) in recent years was able to avail of the Audio Descriptive Commentary service at Shamrock Rovers games in Tallaght Stadium of which I am one of our commentators. John was such a joy to be with during the games, enthusiastic, intelligent and passionate and was always so grateful for the service provided for him by the club. He was a much loved service user, a gentleman and a character. I shall miss his company at Rovers games but we will remember our Jimmy! Ar Dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.
