Shelagh Oisin and Fionan, so sorry to hear of John's passing, Deepest Condolences
So sad for all of the family. I had lost touch with John over the years as you do - my fault. I kept in touch with Oisin and Fionan. However, I have very fond memories of my Uncle John.

He was the 'fun uncle' who always made time for the kids. He and Anne housed our family during our time of desperate need when my Father was ill making sure that we had a 'home' during a difficult time when they had two very young children. For that I will be eternally grateful. He also let me drive his car on Howth beach when I was about 10/11! It was the 70s don't judge, health and safety wasn't a thing then. He participated in the legendary Westmeath Donkey race with my Father when a large number of the clan gathered to watch two grown (hungover) men bounce around on donkeys. John lost but left me with one of my great childhood memories. Also, on my girlfriend's (now wife) fist visit to Ireland he took us on the grand tour of Dublin getting us tickets to the Abbey Theatre among lot's of other interesting stuff.

So far that, and much more, I will fondly remember you and say a special prayer in your honour.

My condolences to all of John's family.

Rest in Peace my 'fun' Uncle.
