I have just heard of Johns passing.He was a great friend in college many years ago and best man at my wedding. I am so sorry for all your loss. My deepest sympathy.

We were all so sad to hear about John. It will not be the same going to Dublin next time and not seeing him.

He was a lovely quiet non-assuming man and quite a character too. It was an amusing challenge to tease him sometimes when he had his very serious face on. When with reluctance he gave in to the challenge, a secret little smile would start to appear around his mouth and his eyes would shine bright! Even though he tried to hide it all!

We will miss him.

So sorry to hear of John's passing .We grew up together in Thomastown and had many happy memories of going to visit your parents and we were always made so welcome. Happy days.l know that it is a sad occasion. But I have to give you a laugh. Many years ago there was a festival in Kilfinane and a fancy dress. The long and the short of it.We won .John was so tall and l was so small.

My sincere condolences on the passing of your wonderful husband and dad, John. John was a complete gentleman and he will be missed so terribly around Swords but particularly in Columbas. John called (more times than I’m sure he would have liked!) to tell me my parking light was on in my car and would walk away every time saying “would you ever get that fixed”. He would never pass by without a chat and he always cared about how everyone was. He had such a strong presence around the place. I am sending you love and strength to get through this incredibly tough time. He’s up there with Leo now.

A neighbour in Thomastown and a school pal on the CIE bus from Kilfinane to Sexton St CBS in the mid 90 ,how often we walked out the wood road on our way home from school what a place to have lived in , the visits on a summer Sunday to their home up in the Wood ,the hospitality of his Dad and Mam ,and picking all the wild Blueberries ,what a time , that we will never forget , May his gentle soul rest in Heavenly peace with all our loved ones .
