Dear Tisch,
I am deeply saddened to hear about John's death. He was a pioneer and his work in Stillorgan Senior College supported many artists through employment as Tutors, at a critical time in their career and provided students a space to realize their potential often having struggled with the conformity of the Leaving Certificate. His 'lack of conformity' and belief that there was always a way to reach your goals, brought hope and innovation to an Ireland that was knee deep in recession and needing new vision. John was that man!

John,
I couldn’t have asked for a better brother-in-law for my sister. You were always ready to take us to new places that I’m sure you had been 100 times before. Loved listening to your stories. It was a real treat to go to a Hurling match in Croak park and rub shoulders with the crazies from Clon.
Admired your picture taking skills. I liked the way you escaped from our houses to explore on your own adventures. You were a treat and a truly welcoming person. Thank you for giving my sister the better and most precious days of her life.
We will all miss you, bill

My Deepest Sympathy Patricia,
I am an old student of John's and he guided me well after my Mother died at a young age, he actually called to my house one rainy Friday evening, this was after I had left school, he gave me information on a job interview which I went to and got the job that started my career, I now run my own business and that was down to John.
I used to drop up to John in Stillorgan at Christmas time for years after that with a silk tie to thank him for his guidance, the Man never changed, a True Gentleman.
Rest in Peace John & Thank you.
Phil

Tish,
I never met your husband but from what I’ve read on these pages he must have been a great guy and a wonderful husband. You will miss him but fondly remember the happy times . May he rest in peace as he waits for you
“ I have only slipped away into the next room
Everything remains as it was
The old life we lived so fondly together is untouched, unchanged.
Whatever we were to each other, we are still
Call me by the old familiar name.
Speak of me in the easy way you always used.
Put no sorrow in your tone.
Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes that we enjoyed together.
Play, smile , think of me, pray for me.
Let my name be ever the household word it always was.
Let it be spoken without effort.
Life means all that it ever meant. It is the same as it ever was.
There is unbroken continuity.
Why should I be out of mind because I am out of site?
I am bu waiting for you, somewhere very near, just around the corner.
All is well. Nothing is hurt. Nothing is lost.
One brief moment and all will be as it was before.
How we shall laugh at the trouble of parting, when we meet again”
