So sorry to hear of John's passing. Sincerest sympathies on your sad loss.
John was a wonderful and witty friend during our schooldays and adolescence in the village that was Navan Road, back in the black and white days of the late 60’s and 70’s. Our paths separated on the great sea of life and we met only intermittently until reconnecting late last year. The warmth of John’s welcome rolled back the intervening decades as if we had never lost contact. We enjoyed a wonderful evening and the clarity of John’s reminiscences, about Pat Egan’s Sound Cellar and the legendary acts we saw in venues like the Stadium, were extraordinary. Our plans to meet this spring had to be deferred and have now regrettably been overtaken by his early passing.
What also shone through that evening was John’s contentment with life, love for, and pride in, you his family. My deepest condolences to you Caitriona, Niamh and Liam, on your inestimable loss.
I am very sorry to hear about John’s passing. We worked together on a project once and enjoyed every second of his company. His wit was something else. RIP John.

Caitriona and family, I am so sorry for your loss of John. I worked with him for many years in Irish Life and he was a great support and mentor. He had a great work ethic but also a great sense of fun, I always sent him an email when he was out of the office just to see what out of office message he had, they were always topical but with a dry wit and sense of humour, as were his poems and songs. It was great to have his advice and knowledge as one of our pension trustees. He and you deserved a much longer retirement together. He will be sorely missed.
Caitriona, My deepest sympathies to you and the family on John's sudden death. I was shocked to hear the news.
