I worked with John on the conversion of the former Chapel at the Smurfit School into the beautiful library space it is today . John’s incisive input into the design and his meticulous research into the history of the chapel and it’s renowned stained glass windows was a testament to his wide ranging intellect . This piece of research is permanently on display on the walls of the library to this day.
May John rest in piece and rise in glory .
So sorry to learn of John’s passing. He was a true gentleman and neighbour. We will remember him fondly. He was so kind and generous with his time and had many lovely chats during my Master’s year in UCD.
May he rest in peace.

Sincere condolences to John's family, his library colleagues, and to everyone who held him in affection. I was a student at UCD Smurfit in its first year at Carysfort - where he was librarian until 2008. Like so many, I benefited from and well remember his kindness, dedication and enthusiasm.

John made our library a very special and supportive place of inquiry. He was endlessly generous with his time and helped generations of MBS and MSc students plot their research.

It was with great sadness that I learned of John's passing. I have very fond memories of John when I was a student in the UCD Smurfit Graduate Business School in the mid '90's and subsequently as a staff member there. John gave so generously of his time and I always enjoyed our conversations. May he rest in peace.
