Deepest condolences to Pat, Declan and all the extended Terry families on the sad passing of your brother John. May John rest in eternal peace.
Sincere condolences to all the family. We have lots of good memories of John from our years living in Old Parish , not least the years playing badminton in parish halls all over the county.
Deepest condolences to the Terry family on John’s sad passing. As has already been stated John was one of the most popular people in our parish. His lovely wit and friendly personality made him a favourite with both young and old alike.
He was of course one of Sean Phobals greatest footballers and in my view there were very few defenders who were better. I can vouch he was a nightmare to play against with his pace and football intelligence making him a superb defender.
John was a leader in that super team from the ‘60’s. When I started playing in the early ‘70’s he was a highly respected player who looked after and advised young players coming into the team.
In those times players drank very little liquid during matches and whatever was drank was just water. However I always remember John bringing two bottles of Lucozade to every championship game we played. It wasn’t the club buying it, it was John Terry.
I remember another occasion hurting my shoulder in a match. Again in those days there was very little first aid but the following day John drove to my house and insisted and bringing me to a doctor and getting it sorted. That was John Terry. Just did it in the quiet and didn’t seek any publicity.
John will be sorely missed by his family and friends. Very difficult to replace people like John.
RIP John.
