If you needed to buy tickets for gigs you weren’t allowed to
Uncle John’s your man, he surely would
A rose he spotted in Donnelly’s bookshop
His admiration you could tell
For he sat there hours reading
Until he knew those pages well
Via Jackson’s and Ardara he swooned her
With Tiobraid Arann charm
From pretending to drive, to sisterly approval
He soon had her in his arm
Starting in Blanch then up to Ballybofey
They built their little nest
Six children in total - They talk of joys
But this one surely was the best

For thanks to you John, there’s now strong inter-county relations
We’ll remind your family that they’re never alone
There’s always ones that love you waiting on the phone
We’ll squeeze Rosaleen and pray for her broken heart
But we know deep down her and John are never apart
Caroline Sean Cass & Ciaran will tell stories of how Grandad was a true force
A man from a whopper family
With big hearts - and tough accents of course
Uncle John lit up the room,
He joked and he listened.
When he was there happy to greet you
The walls around him glistened
They say grief is an ache you cannot heal
And love’s a memory you cannot steal
The one thing I know for sure,
It’s John’s warmth we’ll always feel.
We here celebrate life
Though we wish your time was not so soon to end
