Sorry to hear of Johnny's passing ,my sincere condolences to his wife Maureen and family.What can one say about the man that hasn't been said already.A man for all seasons who never forgot his Limerick roots.Who burst on to the R&B circuit at a very young age with "Granny's Intentions".At a time in this country when show bands held sway no doubt the Granny's were a total revolution.Their music and expression to the youth was like mana from heaven a joy to behold.But to me now in my latter years when I listen to Johnny I hear a great word smith.A man of integrity who loved nature ,a singing poet of our native bardic tradition.Ni bheidh a leitheid aris ann, agus ar dheis De go raibh a anam 🎼.

Sincere sympathies to Maureen and family on the sudden death of a beloved husband, father and grandfather at this time. I was entranced listening to Johnny’s wonderfully crafted lyrics and voice of quivering vulnerability over many years. May his ‘Sure Hands’ somehow offer support to all of you as you face into difficult times.

It seems like only last year we were at his Book launch in the Clybawn Hotel. Martin remembers Johnny with fondness from Granny's Intentions & his lyrical writing & compositions. As a regular walker & swimmer in Silverstrand & living nearby, I met Johnny very regularly in Silverstrand. I would see him sit on a rock near the shore to the right of the strand & never interrupt him by saying hello, thinking to myself " he's composing lyrics there". This really was his special place. As a regular swimmer there I will forever remember Johnny Duhan in Silverstrand, Galway.

I could not immediately find the words to express how sorry I am for you and your family. We often live with our minds in the future, thinking of all the things we still want to do. How sudden could some of this come to an end, when we unexpectedly need to part from a loved one.
