Very sad that Johnny is no longer with us. For as Long as I can remember, there was never a time when he was not included in our family gatherings and always brought great humour to the occasions, We missed him when he moved to Dunboyne, Drogheda was not the same without him. May you rest in peace Johnny.
Sincere condolences to all on the passing of Johnny. Many Happy memories from working with him in Drogheda Daries. RIP JOHNNY.
Remembering fond memories we shared when I lived in Ireland. You were a wonderful support when we worked together helping Mum and Dad (Cepta & Paddy) return to Drogheda. We had such fun when you acted as my chauffeur on your bike! So pleased myself Alistair and Linda got to visit with you in 2022 for afternoon tea and a gossip, wanted to do the same this year but it was not to be. You were a wonderful friend, always loved. Johnny Rest in Peace. Olivia x

My family and I will dearly miss Johnny ("Busby"). Busby was synonymous with my Grandfather and their bickering used to make me laugh aloud. Over his long connection with my family, he had the dubious distinction of "babysitting" both my Father and myself and becoming a dear friend to us both. I would be remiss not to also mention his special relationship with my Mother. He was a constant in all our lives and gave us memories that we will forever cherish.

My condolences to all his family and friends that will deeply miss Johnny. Rest in peace Busby, thanks for the special memories, you will never be forgotten.
Deepest sympathy to Johnny’s cousins and dear friends. May you rest peacefully gentle soul.
Deepest sympathy to Pat and Bridie on the sad passing of Johnny. May he rest in peace
Sincere sympathy to Pat and Bridie Shelly on the sad passing of their dear friend Johnny . Johnny was an absolute gentleman. Always had a smile and a chat for us all. May he rest in peace.
It is with great sadness that we learned of Johnny’s passing. I had the pleasure of meeting Johnny over thirty years ago through my brother in law, Pat Shelley, and his wife Bridie. Over the years, we would meet at different functions, gatherings and parties. Johnny was always there, ready for the fun and craic. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. May Johnny rest in peace.
It is with great shock and sadness that i heard of the passing of John. John was a true gentleman and always had time for a chat. I Also knew him when having a drink with friends in The Pheasant on Duleek Street. John often spoke of his work collecting milk from farms in the outlying districts. John was very well known and respected in Drogheda, he will be sorely missed. I offer Johns Family my heartfelt and sincere condolences. May he rest in peace. I was sad to hear of Johnny's death, he was a lovely man and I have many fond memories of chatting to him on his daily trips to town, he always made time to stop.
Condolences to the Shelly and Mc Ewen families and all Johnny's family and friends.
Unfortunately I will not be able to attend the funeral.

If distance measuring devices were available in the 1940’s when Johnny and his brother, Paddy, began their daily trips down the Plattin Road to the town, the total distance covered would be off the charts as these trips spanned well over a 60 year period. In later life, for Johnny, they included attendance at the 11:00 o clock Mass in the Augustinian Church. For both of them, they always included shopping and socialising with friends. Although very sad, it’s also very significant that their final trip was made within just over one week from each other. Johnny touched many generations of my family. Be if as a house minder, child minder, or deliverer of the daily news, he was always on hand. But, most of all, he was a very dear and cherished friend. Rest in Peace Johnny and thanks for the great memories and special friendship.
