So Johnny had a deep mistrust of people he didn’t know! This was especially when being the “keeper of the inn” at the Black do in Southall. But once he knew & trusted you he would do anything for you. A true gent. He would remind me to ring my mother & when Angie & Martin were away we’d clean the lines, stumbling home afterwards! After moving away from the area I visited a few years ago & found Johnny carrying out the same “inn keeper” duty in the Lamb. As I entered & he realised it was me, he embraced me like a long lost son…..that was the mark of the man. R.I.P Johnny, you’ll be sorely missed x

Today, Sunday, I just heard the sad news about Johnny Rhatigan whom we used to meet in the Corner House during our infrequent visits to Ballymahon. What a beautiful, happy personality Johnny was. May he now Rest in Peace. We offer our sincere sympathy to Mary and Fintan and family.
