He was a great friend to Mattie and I’ve great memories of the two of them supervising a blast in the quarry and always finished the day off with a few quiet ones. So sorry to hear of Johnny’s passing. He was a lovely person so calm and easy to have a chat with.One lasting memory was waiting at the handball alley to be picked up for an U16 football match in Oughterard but nobody.showed. Along comes Johnny in his Minivan we asked him any chance of bringing us to the match all he said was give me ten minutes and I’ll go take the rolls of carpet out.and sure enough he dropped us back that was the type of person Johnny was.
