Sincerely I’m so very sorry to hear of Jon’s passing, he spread such joy for years, I’m sure you feel it’s time taken from you but he was a performer in every fibre of his being. I had an accident leaving me with a spinal injury from my neck down in 1990, I remember going to see he and Pat in the Opera House in Cork & I never laughed so hard since my accident (age 17), what impressed me so much was the fact that normally people avoid talking to disabled people as it’s natural they are nervous about saying the wrong thing but that night in Cork he included me in his hilarious one liners, it gave me so much joy and great appreciation that he didn’t exclude me from the fun and did the complete opposite!
I also loved his acting he delivered lines & scenes with more pathos & sincerity than any other actor I’d seen play the character in previous staging of the plays. He was not just the joker, musician & singer he was a fine actor and now he is gone far too young but he packed in a lot in those years, he will be regarded forever as a National Treasure, which I hope adds to the pride you have for him.
Apologies for taking up so much of your time but I really did love Jon Kenny the performer and the man.
— Olive Moriarty, Tralee
Condolences to the Kenny family. You can be pround of Jon. I am very sorry to hear the sad news that he has died.
— Phil O'Malley, London
My sincere condolences to all Jon's family, colleagues & friends at this sad time. I was very sorry to hear of Jon's passing. He will be mourned by the entire country. Although a man of immense talent, it is his immeasurable performance in D'Unbelievables that won my heart. Growing up (with only a couple of tv channels) we watched the shows repeatedly on vhs. Learned lots of the witty lines & the songs! To this day my siblings & I still quote some of the lines to each other when presented with opportunity! (Like the county final just a few weeks ago!) ..Himself & Pat brought so much fun & joy into every household. His legacy will certainly live on. From watching his later interviews, I imagine he was quite a humble man, not one to relish in fame. However I hope he knew just how much he was cherished. May his gentle soul now Rest In Peace.
— Loughrea, Co. Galway
Sincere condolences to Margy, Aran, Laya and the rest of the family.

I worked with Jon for a few years in the 90's on the D'unbelieveables shows. I spent many happy hours in the van messing and laughing with the pair before we got to venues to setup. Jon gave me a chance and as the shows grew in popularity I learned and worked. Jon was always happy to share his hard won knowledge and insight on the entertainment business. I was priveleged to see another side to him away from the public eye where he took his art and the business seriously. I also got to see the family man who ardently loved Margie and then Aran when he arrived. However my abiding memory is of Jon on stage, something I witnessed hundreds of times, carrying an audience with him in fits of hilarity. I cherish those times in my memory and I believe that the world is apoorer place for his passing.
— Hugh Maguire

It was with great sadness that I learned of the death of Jon. He was an incredibly talented man - something that was very evident beginning with his early days as lead singer/guitarist with Gimik in the 70's. As the entertainment columnist with the Limerick Echo I was privileged to watch his star rise as he progressed into a solo musician - his reggae rendition of Spancil Hill was brilliant. He had a weekly residency at Flan Costelloe's on Dominic Street
Limerick, where he kept the crowd in stitches with his comedic and musical performances.

He honed his acting skills with Siamsa Theatre Group in Limerick before eventually teaming up with Pat Shortt, with whom he went on to become a household name.

Although I moved to San Diego, California many years ago, I have always followed his career with great enjoyment. He always brought excitement, exuberance and pure genius to everything he did. He crammed an extraordinary amount into his way too short a time on this earth. Yet the laughter he brought to so many will echo in eternity.

God Bless You, Jon! And thank you for the tremendous joy you brought to all of us during your lifetime.
